When you are greater than 300 pounds there are road blocks that you constantly hit when you trying to lose weight. Finding workout clothes is one of them... Since I’ve trained for about three weeks now I figured that I will reward myself with some new workout clothes. Who knew that buying it would be an all day ordeal?

First I went to a local family sports store called Modell’s. I found some shorts that were two for $40. They only had three so I bought them all. They didn’t have any shirts my size so I left Modell’s and went to Dicks Sporting Goods, the largest size they carry was XXL. The sales associate suggested that I try one on being that Under Armor has loose fit for some of their shirts. Reluctantly I tried the shirt on and it didn’t reach my belly button. Now I’m thinking to myself, “How in the hell am I going to get this shirt off.” I didn’t want to stretch the shirt, but it will not go over my shoulders. So I did the unthinkable and stretch the shirt so bad that it ripped. I left it in the fitting room and made a bee line to the door.

The next store that I went to was Sports Authority. “Excuse me ma’am where is the men’s athletic wear.” The sales associated responded, “From one big gal to big guy we don’t carry 3XL or 4XL. So don’t waste your time!” I laughed and said to myself “from one big gal to big guy.” The sales associated responded “I hope that I didn’t offend you in any way”. I responded, “Ma’am that comment was priceless. Have a good day!” and left the store. On my way home I pass by a Wal-Mart and I said to myself, “they won’t have my size in there,” but something told to go look anyway. I go inside Wal-Mart and hit the jackpot! They had shorts and shirts at 3XL and 4XL. So I tried some things on and by god they fit. So I picked up 3 pairs of shorts and six shirts all at $8.97 apiece. Sometimes you find things you want in places that you didn’t think they will have it, but you should go and check anyway. They might surprise you.

To all the Big & Tall runners out there, do you have problems finding work out/ running gear in your size? Is it easier or harder finding gear in your area? In what stores do you have the most success finding gear in your size?

Until next time I’m 300 Pounds and Running
