Na, Na, Naaaa, Na!

Na, Na, Naaaa, Na!

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Good-bye master’s thesis!

Sound the alarms!

Sound the alarms!

Somebody sprinkle confetti on me!

Somebody sprinkle confetti on me!

Whoop! Whoop!

You know what it is…

Yes, another goal crushed!

What’s up goal crushers, your boy is finally done! The thesis is not only finished but it’s submitted. I no longer have to think about, nor work on it anymore.

Yay!!!

Sprinkle confetti on me! Sprinkle confetti on me!

You can tell by excitement that I am ecstatic that I am done. All the hard work, effort, and time spent was just for this moment.

I can now say that I am a MASTER of my craft!

Sprinkle confetti on me! Sprinkle confetti on me!

Well Martinus, how does it feel to be done with your master’s thesis but more importantly your master’s program?

I must say that it is bitter-sweet…

Initially, it feels like a weight has been lifted off me. I no longer have this feeling of guilt or feeling like I’m procrastinating when I’m working anything other than my thesis. This was one of the biggest battles that I faced during this process and I’m happy to say those feelings are gone!  Oh, how sweet it is to be free!

However, completing  my master’s thesis has the same bitterness as completing my first marathon… The feeling of emptiness.

You spend so much time, effort, and preparation to get to the big moment.  People think you’re crazy for putting yourself through all of this mess but It becomes the only thing that you think and talk about.

At the big event, you go through all the motions, at one point feel like you’re not going to make it to the finish. However, you persevere and see it to the end. When you finish you feel exhausted and “meh” about the situation.  Days following your  big accomplishment, you feel of empty and lost inside. Leaving you both physical and mentally beaten, feeling  like what do I do now.

When I finished the marathon, I did not want to run anymore. Which was hard and did not make sense to me because my brand is 300 Pounds and Running™. I fought with myself internally and fell into a slump. Because how in world was I going to have a blog about running but I now hated it. I found out that situation was completely normal for first time marathoners and I slowly but surely got back into the swing of things.

Now that my thesis is finished and submitted, I am going through the same thing…  Now I’m like don’t even like writing anymore….

I see a trend here, do you?

I can only assume that this is normal for people who just completed their thesis or dissertation. So like running I am going to do a bit of leisure writing every day until I get back into the swing of things.

It’s a challenge that I’m not looking forward to face, but it has to be done.

Anyways, I feel like I’m rambling so I going to stop the post here.

I’m excited to be done with my master’s program… I want to thank everyone who has given me words of encouragement. I also want to thank the loyal readers of this blog. You have been here to support me no matter what. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
