Weigh-In Wednesday: 2012 Reflection

Progress Pic side

It’s a blessing to make it to another year; this life changing journey amazes me every day. Sometimes I think about what have I done the past year and I just want to start hollering (In a good way of course). For those who don’t know I started my journey and this blog July 1, 2012. It has been merely six months from the day that I started; I knew my life was going to change but I didn’t know was how much. As I reflect on 2012, I’ve seen how far I came and pushed myself. From wanting to quit on Week 1, Day 1 of C25K to: running my first unofficial 5k, running my first official 5k, and my first 10k. From the first pound lost to 10, 20, and 30. All the way up to my first time weighing less than 300 lbs (I haven’t weighed less than 300 lbs since 2004). As I sit and think about it all a smile come upon my face and I say to myself “Wow Martinus you’ve pushed yourself in 2012.” Once I feel that sense of happiness the smile leaves my face, because I know I’m going to have to push myself twice or even three times as hard as I did in 2012. I’m going to need twice quadruple the determination, tenacity and motivation to get my goals accomplish (which I will discuss tomorrow.) I’ve celebrated, I’ve took breaks, I’ve enjoyed the holidays now it’s time to turn it up 20 notches and crush my goals!

Now to Weigh-in Wednesday **Please note! This will be the last Weigh-in Wednesday, from now on I will weigh in on Fridays**. The last time I weighed in it was on December 19, 2012 and I weighed 299.7 lbs. Let’s see what I weigh now….

Yes I gain a few pounds and I predicted that it would happen. However I’ve gotten a taste of being less than 300lbs. and that was the greatest feeling ever. I’m not going to worry about it because I’ll be back there in no time. Like I said earlier the break is over and it’s time to crush goals in 2013.

Race Recap: CMU Homecoming Miles for Medals

Race Medal

With everything going on with my farther over the past couple of weeks, I’m excited to do something that brings me joy…Yep! You know what that is…Running Races… Who would have known that I’ll be saying that running brings me joy? My Alma Mater, Central Michigan University Homecoming happened to be over the weekend, while visiting my family. So decide I that will run the homecoming race to release some steam. It felt good to get out there and run, on top of that it was for a good cause… All of the proceeds went to the Special Olympics.

Miles for Medals 5K Race

This is my forth 5K and my second 5K in two weeks; speaking of that I need to post the recap of the Hartford Marathon 5K. This race gave me a chance to clear my mind and most importantly run. It was good to see some classmates cheer for me; especially the ones who don’t read my blog and think that I was lying when I said I came to the homecoming to run the race.

The 5K went well and it was a little tough…I think it was because I haven’t ran since the last 5K. I manage to finish the race with a time of 36:38.8, which was better than Hartford Marathon 5K. The thing that has been bothering me is that after the race I’m usually pooped. I’ll finish the race, I eat then sleep…which I found odd because I’ll run 4-5 miles before I’ll go to school and be OK but after a race I’m done…does anybody else experience this or is it just me? Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

My First 5K Race

Yesterday I participated in the Stephen Siller’s Tunnel to Towers Charity 5K. I’m excited that my first race was for charitable cause.

***Attention this post has a lot of pictures***

When I woke up I was very anxious and nervous, I knew that I was capable of running a 5K but this felt like the calm before the storm.  Anyways, when I got to Watrous Park it was

Weekend Recap/ Weigh-In Wednesday/ Blog Challenge Day 5

Welcome Back to 300 Pounds and Running,

My weekend in D.C. was amazing it started with a 7 hour train ride from Hartford to Washington, DC; the cool part is we made a stop at the Baltimore Penn Station, that’s where I’m going for fitbloggin’12.

We got to D.C. around 3 pm, check in the hotel and went on our way. We hopped on the metro to go to this Brazilian restaurant called Fogo De Chao and the food was amazing. They had this card that you flipped over when you wanted them to bring you meat and the salad bar was huge! It’s foodie heaven!

Here’s a video of Fogo De Chao!

Afterwards we caught the metro back to Union Station to go our tour titled: Monuments by Moonlight. I’m glad we took this tour because it was very humid during the day. We stop by all the major monuments and got off at the MLK, JFK, and Lincoln Memorial.

The next day I got and ran 3 miles in the hotel gym. Afterwards we went to B. Smith’s restaurant for brunch; I’m proud of myself because I only had 2 mimosas instead of the 4 I would usually get.

Here’s video about the restaurant

After brunch we went to the Holocaust Museum and came back to the hotel relaxed the rest of the day. On the last day I woke up and ran another 3 miles, had breakfast and checked out of the hotel. On the way back the train stopped in NYC so I walked around to stretch my legs only to find that they have Papaya Dog in the train station; 2 hotdogs and papaya juice please! That was the highlight of my train ride. If I gained weight this week it was well worth it.

Weigh-in Wednesday

Since there are a lot of things going on in this post I am not going to go into detail of my measurements. Last week I weighed 326.7 lbs. Let’s see what I weigh this week.

300 Pounds and Running 325.3

This week I weigh 325.3 lbs. – last week 326.6 lbs. = 1.3 pounds lost. I am surprise that I lost weight, I ate so well in D.C. I was pretty sure that I gain a pound or two. This shows I can go on vacation and still lose weight.

Welcome Back to 300 Pounds and Running

Last night my girlfriend was pushing my buttons and I became irritated. I didn’t even argue with her I just went for a run. I left mainly to get out the house but my run ended up being very therapeutic.

Run Check In

300 pounds and running

I decided to take the momentum from my previous work out and run outside today. The birds were chirping and the bees were buzzing. Wait…. I think I’m dreaming! Finding it weird that I dreamt about running; I get out of the bed, put on my clothes and went for a run.
