Nike Launches Air Zoom Pegasus 31

(Singing in Pharrell’s voice) I’m Happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, Because I’m Happyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Why I’m happy you say? Over the weekend, Nike unveiled the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31. I must say that I’m pretty excited because this shoe just works for me. This is one of the few shoes that I can walk into the store ask for a size 14 and not try them on. This rarely happens as a big guy! Additionally, I ran my first marathon in a pair of Nike Air Zoom Pegasus, so this shoe will always have a special pace in my heart.

The shoe is completely redesigned… According to Nike the iconic shoes was inspired by gold medalist, world champion Mo Farah  and they wear tested this shoe over 16,000 miles.

“When designing the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31, we had the unique benefit of athlete feedback from 16,000-plus miles of wear testing in the shoe and this helped us focus on fine-tuning and evolving this iconic shoe to make it feel even faster and more responsive,” said Mark Miner, Senior Footwear Designer. “Mo Farah is truly an advocate for the performance of the shoe, and he gave us insights along the way that allowed us to revolutionize the 31”

The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31 is supposed to have a faster and more responsive feel. Additionally, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31 now has a 10 mm drop, which supposed to give the shoe more natural ride.

I cannot wait to get my hands on these bad boys and take them for a run… Be on the lookout for a review on the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31 in the near future.

Running Shoe Reviews From A Fat Guy

Big Man Running Shoes

Big Man Running Shoes I’m big, overweight/ obese, fat, plump, heavy set, big boned, pudgy and I’m a runner. Let’s be honest, big people who run do not fit the mold. We get treated like outliers…nobody really knows how to deal with us… Many discard us as if we are not here, some assume that we’re supposed to fit their predetermined mold, very few add us to the general population.

As a runner, I need running  shoes… However, I find it difficult to find the right shoes. See, my shoe shopping experience is very different from the person who fits the mold… While a person who wears a size 9 can walk in and pretty much, try on every running shoe in the store. I usually play the guessing game… Do you have this in a size 14? Nope! Well, what about this? Nope. You get irritated and you tell them to bring out all the size 14s that they have in the back. The sales associate usually come out with 3-4 pairs of shoes, none of which you really had you eye on.  So, you try them on and none of the fit. Now you have two options… You can either go to another store in the mall and play the same guessing game or you can order them online. So look up shoe reviews and you find the shoe that everyone is raving about… You are excited to try them out, so you order them and they don’t fit either. Now you’re disappointed and you can’t understand why the shoe that fits everybody in the reviews doesn’t fit you…then it hits you, it’s because they are the rule and you’re the exception…

Has this ever happened to you? Well, I’m fed up with getting advice from the rule and trying to apply to my exceptional life… I decided to take matters in my own hand and start reviewing shoes… It is my hope that I can help the next big guy by sharing my perspective on running shoes… Hell I’ve tried on enough shoes to be an expert,  it’s my turn to give it the ole collage try. With that said, be on the lookout for my first running shoe review.

Run After Pneumonia

Run Recap

According to my Nike Running App, It’s been 5 weeks since I ran. Well not anymore! I’m officially off of antibiotics, I can take a deep breath without hacking up a lung, I’m no longer coughing randomly, and I survived a CrossFit WOD. I think it’s time to go for a run. Yes 300 Pounds and Running is finally going running…let me bundle up and let’s go.

As I left my apartment I felt a little nervous, a little unsure, a little maybe I should wait another day or week or so …Naw! It’s time to get out there NOW and run. It’s about 40 degrees outside and I’m dress like it’s 40 below zero. Hey what can I say, I don’t want to jinx the pneumonia thing. Anyways I really wanted to start out slowly, so I did day 1 of Half Marathon Trainer Pro – Run for PINK; it consist of a 5 minutes warm up, then run 3 min/ walk 2 minutes repeat 7 times and a 5 minute cool down.

The first interval I sprinted as fast as I could, I don’t know why; I thought I was superman or something…Yeah that was a bad Idea…I remember slowing down and gasping for air, thinking to myself, “What the hell are you doing ? This is your first run since having pneumonia.” I’m super eager to get back running. However my mind and body are not on the same accord. Gee! I hate when that happens.. I took the fifth interval in order for me to find my pace. My shoulders were relaxed, I had a slight lean forward and it’s finally feeling right…Once I got into the groove, the workout was done. It was bittersweet because I was happy that I found my stride, yet sad that it took me until the end of the workout to find it… Oh well better luck next time, I’m slowly but surely getting back into the normal. I know it’s going to take some time… that’s coming from my body. However my mind wants to go out and run a 10k tomorrow; my mind got another thing coming because my body is not having that. Either way I’m glad to be running again.

Until next time I’m 300 Pounds and Running.

Don’t call it a come back!

Buddha Qoute

AH Yeah! Guess who back….back again! 300 P.A.R.’s back…back again. Guess who’s back…Guess who’s back…Guess who’s back…Guess who’s back…Yes I’m back!

Let me tell y’all something this has been a long and crazy December. Finals, papers, group projects, and presentations…OH MY! Yea if I had a ledge I would have jumped…I’m just playing. I don’t want anybody to think that I need to be on suicide watch or anything. The mess up thing is that after I finished all my finals, papers, and projects; I ended up getting pneumonia… That was crazy because I thought the only people who get pneumonia are babies, old people, and people in the hospital…I was wrong about that!  Your boy was dead to the world for about a week and a half. I spent most of my days in the bed watching Netflix. I ended up watching at least two seasons of 24. Anyways I’m not quite fully recovered, I still have about 4 days of antibiotics left to take…I think I’m functioning at about 85% so the end is near. I want to say thanks to those who follow me on Twitter and Facebook who sent me all types of well wishes….I really appreciated them…I tried my best to respond to everybody but the meds had me in a different world. So this is me saying thanks!  It’s great to be feeling back to my normal self. It’s time to go back to regular plan…

Y’all now I keep it real…so I gotta tell the truth and say that I haven’t gone for a run in while and when I say a while I mean Thanksgiving. Yes I haven’t ran since Thanksgiving…Things have been crazy and I know I can’t use that for an excuse…I need to get butt out there ASAP and run a mile, 5K, or  something… I’ll keep y’all posted on whatever I decide to do.

Until Next Time I’m 300 Pounds and Running.
