Running While Fat: Chafing in Intimate Places

Running While Fat: Chafing in Intimate Places

Imagine you are on a run… The birds are chirping… The dogs are barking… The wind is blowing in your hair…You’re at the that point when your body goes into auto pilot. Just before you are about to pick up the pace, you feel a burning sensation in a very, very, very intimate place. Guess what?!? Your thighs are chafed…

So what do you do? Do you stop running or do you power through the chafing and the smell of bacon and deal with the burn later? Neither, by of end of the post I hope to show you how to prevent this situation all together. Continue reading…

I’m going to be frank with you, chafing sucks balls! (Seriously, it really sucks!)  As a 300-pound runner, I am always combating the burn of chafing. This body causes so much friction that I do not run near gas stations in fear that I might start a fire…

Anyways, after running for about 2 years and suffer from chafing in the most intimate places. I’ve finally have a system that has decrease the amount of chafing by 85%. You got me I made that number up. In all seriousness, there are two things that I do before every run to prevent chafing… I call it lube and layer up.

Lube

112… That is the number of times that I’ve hopped in the shower and it felt like I was bathing in battery acid. I’m telling you, finding out that your body is all chafed up in the shower is not fun. It is only something that you would want to wish on your enemies. If you don’t want this situation to happen to you, I suggest to you pick up an anti-friction stick or cream.

Most people already know about the gift from God called BodyGlide. However, I ran for about 8 months without knowing about this stuff. When I found out about it, I told all my runner friends they didn’t love me because they knew about my chafing issues but never told me about anti-friction sticks or creams.

So I’m here today to pay it forward, because I know there is someone out there like me, who is literally chafing their ass off and their friends haven’t told them about it… If you fit that description, you need get an anti-friction stick or cream and new friends because, they don’t love you either… There are many creams and sticks out there, but my personally favorite is BodyGlide. I’ll said it and I’m going to keep on saying it…BodyGlide is a gift from God… It looks like it could be deodorant but it doesn’t have a scent. It’s very simple to use just apply it anywhere that you are chafe prone.  For me that’s pretty much everywhere…

Layer up

Now for most people BodyGlide is all you need. However, I need extra protection in one certain place. I’m talking about my thighs… It’s doesn’t matter how much lube I use I still need more. One of the things that I do for added chafe protection is to wear compression shorts under my running shorts. The mixture of the BodyGlide and the material of the compression shorts give my thighs the added protection I need to get me through my long runs.  As you know, there are tons of compression shorts out on the market. For those who care to know, I personally use compression shorts from Under Armor… When I first started running these were the only compression shorts that I could find to fit me (they go up to a size 5XL).

Well there you have it… These tips may seem super basic to someone you, but when I started running I didn’t know any of this… I wish someone would of told me these simple tips… It would have save me a lot of chafing…This is my way of paying it forward… If you fine this post useful please post forward it to a friend or share it on social media..

When your weight is greater than 300 pounds, there are certain body parts that constantly rub together. In addition to rubbing together there are certain body parts that sweat a lot also. Most of the time those body parts are the same. Let’s do a little math: add constant wetness to constant friction, the sum is usually something nasty. For me its skin tags and chafing, but mainly chafing.

I’m not going to talk about skin tags in this post, but for those of you who don’t know what a skin tag is Let Me Google That For You.
