Yesterday I got a package in the mail; it was my Road ID that I ordered on Saturday. Road Id is a wristband, ankle band, and shoe pouch that have your emergency contact on it.
I bought a Road ID because I stay in a semi-rural area and they barely have sidewalks, most of the time I’m running on the shoulder; 9 times out of 10 I don’t have any identification on me and god forbid that I get involved in accident and I’m unable to speak. Sure I have ICE next to all my emergency contacts in my phone but what if that’s destroyed in the accident, I wanted to give my family, mainly my girlfriend the peace of mind that if something happens to me, the first responders will know who I’m and who to contact..
There are two types of Road ID’s the tradition and the interactive. I got the interactive because I’m a college student and I move around a lot so I can always change my information on the fly vs. the tradition if you want to change the information on you ID you would have to buy a replacement ID.
With interactive you get the first year free and it’s like $10 a year afterwards. If you’re running without ID, I suggest you pick up a Road ID, it’s better to have it and not need rather than need it and don’t have one. When I ordered, they gave me a coupon that I could pass along to my friends. Here’s the coupon number: Coupon Number: ThanksMartinus18054453
The coupon is good for $1 off any Road ID order placed by 09/16/2012. To order, simply go to RoadID.com or click the link: http://www.RoadID.com/?CID=ThanksMartinus18054453
Weigh-In Wednesday
Now that we got run safety out the way it’s time for Weigh-In Wednesday. As many of you may or may not know my new weight loss goal is to lose at least 1 pound a week. Last week was my first public weigh-in and I announce that I loss 10 pounds since the start 300 Pounds and Running, weighing 328.6 pounds. Let’s see how I this week.
So here are the stats!

*note: I forgot to measure my chest this morning I will do it when I get home*
By expanding my thinking and not putting limits on my goal, I’ve exceeded this week’s goal by one pound. It’s a start but it’s definitely not the end; I have about 16 days to my first 5k and the first day of school is this Monday. I have a lot on my plate this upcoming semester; collecting data for my research, mentoring a student who is on academic probation, planning a conference, going to different conferences, professional development, finding members for my advisory committee, being a boyfriend, and running a blog…this is just the tip of the iceberg. So I need to take this motivation and drive into the following weeks, so I can start my second semester of graduate school with a full head of steam. To everyone else who is on a journey, I hope that you exceed your goals also.
Until next time I’m 300 Pounds and Running
