Being bred from Detroit there has always been a huge music scene as from as I can remember. While my mother played Motown hits in the basement while doing laundry, other family members listened to techno and rap. My passion for music didn’t start until mid-90’s my brother-in-law was DJ and use to watch him practice. Around that time Ghetto Techno started to emerge in Detroit.
The bass was loud and music was fast and that’s where Jitting began to get big.
I use to listen to the “Mixes” on the radio and if you were privileged to have a tape recorder; you would record the mixes and trade them with friends. Those were the good ole’ days! Fast forward to when I’m a under grad I was a party and I said to my friend that I could do a better job than the DJ. At that moment I decided to be a DJ so I took my refund check and bought DJ Equipment. I spent countless hours practicing teaching myself the tricks of the trade. I listen to DJs on the radio and tried to emulate their routine. It was a point where I rather practice DJing then go to school. Now that I’m more mature and the DJ equipment collects dust while I’m in Graduate School, music is still in a major part of my life. It definitely plays a pivotal role of my weight loss journey; music gives me a way to dissociate from exercise and puts me in the zone for whatever comes my way. It gives me that inspirational I need to push myself to the next level. Music is me.
You might be wondering why I’m talking about music. Polk just launched a new online project aimed at activating users in the online space to share stories of their personal relationships with music. Polk created The Love Music Project microsite to house this content in an effort to share our fans’ collective passion for music and extend it into the social space. The site is accessible by computer, tablet or smart phone, and allows users to upload their music “love story” by video or photo‐text pairing directly. The user‐generated content is then pushed live and shareable across Facebook, Twitter (hashtag #LoveMusic), Google+ and Pinterest. If logged in to the site via Facebook, users can “Like” the content without leaving the microsite. Users who upload content will be entered to win a pair of Polk UltraFocus™ 8000 Active Noise Canceling Headphones.
Also you have a chance below to win a $50 Gift Code from Polk Audio. Check out the Raffle Copter below for details.
