Color in Motion Hartford 5K Giveaway

Lately I’ve been running… It’s slow, It doesn’t look good, and it’s hard! However, I’ve been running…It’s a win in my book and I’ll take it. It’s my hope that I will be fully healed in time to train for the Hartford Marathon… I don’t know if it’s realistic now, but it’s my dream that I’m holding on to… In the meantime, I’m going to run/walk a couple of 5Ks to get back in action… I miss all the excitement of race day, talking to new people, giving high fives, and of course crossing the finish line.

The kind folks at the Color In Motion Hartford 5K, hooked me up with a free admission to their race. I’m pretty excited about it because I’ve never done a color run… Plus I’m interested to see how my locs and the color are going to mesh…I wonder how long will it take me to get it all out of my hair. Another reason that I’m excited about running the Color In Motion Hartford 5K is they’ve teamed up with End Hunger Connecticut. Which is a charity who fights to end hunger in the state of Connecticut. I love a race that supports a cause.

It’s sound cool doesn’t it? Would you like to run the race with me? Well, that’s great because two lucky individuals will have the opportunity to take part in the race. See the Rafflcopter below for more details…

Have you ever ran the Color in Motion Race? If so, how was your experience?

I Am Funny Shirts Review/Giveaway

I love when t-shirts have funny or clever sayings on it. Especially when it has to do with running! So I was excited when Matt from I Am Funny Shirts sent me a few of his funny running shirts to review.

Looking at the site I fell in love with just about all the shirts offered on the site, so it was tough decision to make. I when received the shirts and took them out their package I’m really impress on how soft they were and the design had a personal touch to them.

Wearing these shirts out and about I’ve gotten a ton of compliments like, “Where did you get that shirt from?” and “I run for bacon too!!” That last compliment was kind of corny but I take them when I get them.

I Am Funny Shirts

After doing a little digging on their site I found that all shirts are made in the USA and hand printed in New Orleans. They use 100% eco-friendly inks, dyes, and chemicals. It’s interesting to note that all the designs are actually dyed into the shirt so the design will not crack or fade over time.

They have shirts to meet everyone’s personality making them great gifts for anyone especially that special runner in your life.

The cool things that one lucky reader will get a t-shirt of their choosing see the raffle copter below.

Lenny & Larry’s Protein Brownies/ Cookies Review/ Giveaway Extravaganza

I first heard of Lenny & Larry’s products at FitBloggin’ 13 and right off back I was skeptic. I’ve tasted protein brownies and cookies in the past and they all tasted like card board to me. So at first I didn’t want any parts of it. Eventually I let my guard down and tried the triple chocolate brownie and lemon poppy cookie. The brownie was taste pretty good but the cookie was something amazing. I was stunned how it really tasted like a cookie and not like cardboard.

After I ate the cookie it was time for me to read the label and see what it cost me in calories. At first glance I thought to myself this is not bad… It’s had protein (of course!), some vitamins, nutrients, and it’s all natural.Additionally there was no high fructose corn syrup or sugar alcohols All of which is good in my book.

However there is always a caveat to every product. My caveat with the Lenny & Larry’s product is the serving size on the label. One whole cookie or brownie is two serving sizes. I mention that because when most people read the label of an individual package cookie/brownie they would think it is one serving size. This could get a little tricky if you are counting calories and you don’t play attention.

The Muscle Brownies comes in four flavors: Cookies & Cream, Triple Chocolate, Caramel Walnut and Peanut Butter and has 340 calories and 20 grams of protein per package. The Complete Cookie comes in six delicious flavors: Pumpkin, Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Lemon Poppy and Double Chocolate and has 190 calories and 15 grams of protein per cookie. The cookies are also 100% vegan.

Final Thoughts

Lenny & Larry’s have great tasting products and they are an excellent source of protein. My only caveat is the labeling of the individually wrapped package. I believe they should have put all the stats on the label as if a whole cookie/brownie is one serving size instead of two.

I would recommend this to any person who’s looking for a protein shake alternative. Since the cookies are 100% vegan I hear my vegan friends rejoicing as they enjoy a cookie.

I do have to mention that I haven’t ate any of their products since I went Paleo, which was a couple weeks ago.

So what do you prefer brownies or cookies? You decide!! One lucky winner will win a muscle brownie sample pack (4 brownies) & a complete cookie sample pack (6 cookies)! See the rafflecopter below for details.

Jaybird Freedom Sprint Earbud Review/Giveaway

Freedom Sprint

I received the Jaybird Freedom Sprint wireless ear buds in my swag bag for speaking at Fitbloggin’13.  Since the first day I put them in my ears, I just can’t find a reason to take them out.  The funny thing is that I never heard about Jaybird or their products until I went Fitbloggin’13.  Let just say I’m that glad that I was a speaker this year because these ear buds are life changing!

Freedom Sprint w 300 Pounds and Running

First things first… How do they Sound?

I use to be a DJ so I know a thing or two about sound… Though I’m not an audiophile I know what to look and listen for; some ear buds that I’ve encountered sound muffled when they are in my ear, some buds sound like you are under water. Well that’s not the case for the Freedom Sprint, the sound crystal clear and the bass is nice and warm. From Hip-Hop to audio books and everything in between they sound great with Freedom Sprint from Jaybird.

Are They Comfortable?

Another reason why I haven’t put down the Freedom Sprint is because how comfortable they are. When you initial put them in your ear can barely tell they are there. Even after wearing them for 4-5 hours they are still comfortable when most ear buds tend to hurt my ears.

While I’m Running…

I’m a big guy, so when I run the vibration travels throughout my body causing ear buds to fall out every mile or so. The Freedom Sprint actually stay in my ears while running thanks to their secure fit feature these buds stay in place.

Some Caveats…

Button Placement

The button placement is one of those little annoyances of a great product. The right ear bud has all the controls the top button is the play pause and answer phone calls and the two little buttons on the side are for seek and volume.

When you put the buds in your ear the controls face to the back of you while the charging port faces the front.  The problem lies when you are trying to press on the volume and seek button with you thumb while your index finger has to hold the ear bud in place. The buttons are stiff to press and using your thumb to press those tiny buttons becomes difficult.

I would love for Jaybird to switch the placement of charging port with the buttons, so that you would be able to press the buttons with your index finger while holding the ear bud in place with your thumb… It seems more natural that way.

Sweaty Cord Problems…

My second caveat that I have with Freedom Sprint ear buds is the cord that connects the two buds together. When I run I sweat like a pig and the cord sticks to the back of my neck.  Occasionally when turn my head, it cause the cord to tug on the ear bud a bit. It’s nothing major, just one of those little annoyances. I wish the Freedom Sprint came with something to hold the cord in place behind your head like their Blue Buds X…

To Sum It Up…

The Freedom Sprint wireless ear buds from Jaybird are an exceptional pair of buds. They sound great, they are comfortable, and they stay in your ears while running. Besides of the little caveats that I have mention above, the Freedom Sprint ear buds are something that I would recommend to my friends.

In the spirit of my 1 Year Blogging Anniversary Celebration going this month, I’m giving all of loyal readers a chance to win a pair of the Jaybird Freedom Sprint… See the Rafflecopter below for details.
