One of my fitness goals is to be more active, I’m not just talking about running either. I want to be more active throughout my daily life. Sometimes that can be a daunting task while being a graduate student, where most of my days consist of sitting in front of computer looking for papers, reading papers and writing papers. I might actually have 5-10 minutes of free time for every 4 hours that I’m in the lab or in class. How in the world would I be more active with a schedule like this?
The solution: Sworkit Pro App! The Sworkit app generates and guides you through random circuit training workouts. The cool thing is that you make the workouts as short as five minutes and as long as an hour.
I have been using Sworkit app since I got back from FitBloggin and my personal favorites are back stretch, the full sequence of yoga, and bring the pain workout.
I would recommend this app to anyone looking for quick circuit training at the palms of their hands and anyone who is short on free time but wants to be active.
The Sworkit Pro app goes for $1 in the app store but two lucky individuals will get the app for free. View the rafflecopter below!
Two days ago it was my blogging anniversary with 300 Pounds and Running and today is my birthday! It’s definitely a great feeling being alive it’s another day where I can learn, grow and give back to this earth what it gave me.
I’m happy that I’m not a statistic! What I mean by that is I grew up in Detroit, Mi. For all the Michigan folks, I’m talking about the real Detroit, not any of the surrounding suburbs. I don’t have a problem with anybody that stays in the suburbs of Detroit; I just want to get my point across…
I’m talking about crack house, shoot out, people die every day Detroit. Where the average black man life ends before the age of 25, now that I’m 27 and past that statistic, I can reflect on life and think about the time where I could have been stretched out on the streets or that could have been me in jail or or even worst dead.
But instead I’m here talking to you, pursing my master’s degree, and inspiring people to #CrushGoals. I have a blog about running and losing weight. That’s something of which most black men in Detroit don’t have. When I woke up this morning I was a little sad… Sad because I haven’t accomplish all the goals that I wanted to by 27.
Instead of sitting with that sad feeling I thought about all the things that I have accomplished with the last year. I started my first blog and average 8,000 views a month, I lost about 50 pounds, I ran my first… 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon, I ran over the golden gate bridge, I led the 5K fun run at Fitbloggin, I have a group of friends that support me in every step of my journey, I even started to do research on something that is near and dear to my heart.
When I think of everything that I’ve did just at the age of 26, who cares that I didn’t reach all the goals that I wanted to accomplish by 27. I’ve did some amazing stuff at 27 that most people won’t do in their life time. I think about all of this and the sadness goes away.
I know I’m blessed and I’m bound for greatness. With that said I want to thank you all for all the birthday wishes. I really appreciated them because lord knows it could be the other way around.
Sorry for going so deep on the birthday post, I had a lot on my heart. Now to the giveaway!!
Let’s begin with I LOVE Turkey Perky Jerky! It’s by far one of my favorite snacks, especially for traveling to Fitbloggin’13 **FitBloggin’13 Recap soon**. I ran in to the nice folks at perky jerky and then my dream came true they gave me tons of free samples. Which was nice because I had ran out of my own personal stash.
The reasons why I love Turkey Perky Jerky are simple.
1. Only 100 calories per package!
Since the change in my diet I have to be conscious of what I’m snacking on, with Turkey Perky Jerky being 100 calories per package I could eat the whole package (sometimes 2 packages J) of Turkey Perky Jerky and don’t feel bad about it.
2. They taste great!
Turkey Perky Jerky is not hard or rubbery like other jerkies I’ve tried in the past. It’s very tender and tasty. I will even go on the limb to say Turkey Perky Jerky is Fat Boy Approved.
In the Spirit of my birthday/ 300 Pounds and Running Bloggerversary I’m giving away “The Ocho”… That’s 8 bags of Perky Jerky one in every flavor. See the Rafflecopter below for details
Being bred from Detroit there has always been a huge music scene as from as I can remember. While my mother played Motown hits in the basement while doing laundry, other family members listened to techno and rap. My passion for music didn’t start until mid-90’s my brother-in-law was DJ and use to watch him practice. Around that time Ghetto Techno started to emerge in Detroit.
The bass was loud and music was fast and that’s where Jitting began to get big.
I use to listen to the “Mixes” on the radio and if you were privileged to have a tape recorder; you would record the mixes and trade them with friends. Those were the good ole’ days! Fast forward to when I’m a under grad I was a party and I said to my friend that I could do a better job than the DJ. At that moment I decided to be a DJ so I took my refund check and bought DJ Equipment. I spent countless hours practicing teaching myself the tricks of the trade. I listen to DJs on the radio and tried to emulate their routine. It was a point where I rather practice DJing then go to school. Now that I’m more mature and the DJ equipment collects dust while I’m in Graduate School, music is still in a major part of my life. It definitely plays a pivotal role of my weight loss journey; music gives me a way to dissociate from exercise and puts me in the zone for whatever comes my way. It gives me that inspirational I need to push myself to the next level. Music is me.
You might be wondering why I’m talking about music. Polk just launched a new online project aimed at activating users in the online space to share stories of their personal relationships with music. Polk created The Love Music Project microsite to house this content in an effort to share our fans’ collective passion for music and extend it into the social space. The site is accessible by computer, tablet or smart phone, and allows users to upload their music “love story” by video or photo‐text pairing directly. The user‐generated content is then pushed live and shareable across Facebook, Twitter (hashtag #LoveMusic), Google+ and Pinterest. If logged in to the site via Facebook, users can “Like” the content without leaving the microsite. Users who upload content will be entered to win a pair of Polk UltraFocus™ 8000 Active Noise Canceling Headphones.
Also you have a chance below to win a $50 Gift Code from Polk Audio. Check out the Raffle Copter below for details.

As you know I went to FitBloggin about a week ago. Being fat boy there are certain things that I look forward to at conferences, one of them is the snacks. I might have to spoof the track by Trey Song called “Two Reasons,” because I only go to events for the food and the drinks. Out of all the snacks I had at FitBloggin; one particular snack stood out to me the most. popchips! I never had popchips before I went to FitBloggin and I’m not going to lie at first I was very skeptical about them. I said to myself, “chips at a fitness blogging conference you get to be kidding me, they must be baked…I’ll pass!” Then I found out that they wasn’t baked or fried. They are “popped” like popcorn….
So against my better judgment I tried the ranch tortilla chips to see how they compared against “cool ranch” and I was blown away on how flavorful they were. I thought to myself where have these chips been all my life. As the finish off the bag I check out the label because something so good can’t be low cal…are you serious it’s only 120 calories per bag. Well you know what…I’ll have another bag please! popchips are definitely a delicious snack, it’s all natural, and low in calories. They were so good, that I asked the nice people at popchips if they can help me share the popped experience with my loyal readers and their answer was yes! With that said one lucky reader will have the opportunity to win a case of 12 bags (3 of each new tortilla flavor) of popchips.
