Hello Fat Pants

Hello fat pants I thought I’d never see you again. But there you are hanging in my closet again. Taking up so much space, my skinny pants told me that I need to run in place. What is a guy to do, when your skinny pants are so cruel?

Today I had to pull out my fat pants after all my skinny pants wouldn’t fit anymore. It’s never a great feeling what that happens. But it shows how easy it is to revert and fall back into old habits.

Frankly it hurts like hell…

I guess this is a come to Jesus moment…

A confessional if you may…

Hi my name is Martinus, I am 300 pounds and chilling…

I haven’t been active in a while. First it was a car accident with a shoulder and neck injury. Then it was another accident with a neck and back injury. Now it’s an Achilles tendon issues keeping me sideline. This is the icing of the cake of the shit that keeps setting me back. Additionally, I’ve been battling with some real bad depression. It was so bad that I was going to voluntarily commit myself. And while I know exercise and blogging would be the best things for me to do. I couldn’t pull myself to do either one. I would sit at my desk with a pen and paper for hours and nothing would come out. It would be so frustrating and disheartening to get nothing out, and it would put me into a deeper depression. It’s was one hell of a rough patch to say the least.

Things are starting to turn around; I can start to see the light out of the abyss. Lately I start doing yoga, and a couple of other things that I not going to discuss just yet. Let’s just say that I am in the process of decluttering my life…

Sometimes you have to do something different to get different results (Go figure). I don’t know when the next time I’ll get out to run. It really depends on my Achilles tendon. I’m not holding my breath for anytime soon so I will be coming up with another plan of attack. Just a little update of what’s going on with me.

Until next time,

300 Pounds and Chilling

Fun Times With A Good Friend + Week 6 of Couch25K

This past weekend my home girl Kelly from curvyfitgirl.com came up from NYC and did a Fitbloggin Massachusetts Tour. I believe she visited Dani, Sarah, Colleen, and myself. I thought it was awesome that she drove up to visit her tweeps. (Side note: She also mentioned that she drove from NYC but there are so many peeps in MA that we should think about doing something every once in a while… I agree, I will get in touch with my MA folks this summer and have a meet and tweet or something. So stay tuned!)

For those of you who have not met Kelly in real life, she’s a freaking riot. She is definitely a New York girl at heart and that is what makes her amazing.

For example:

Kelly: So when are we going to hear about Martinus losing 10, 20, or 50 pounds again.

Me: Weight loss is a bitch and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Kelly: I understand I have to get my head out of my ass every now and again…

Me:   :-/ Okay… lol

Kelly: Dude, you need to post more and get that shit off your chest… I know you in pain but you have to let the world know how you are doing…

I love talking to Kelly I know that everything comes from her mouth is unfiltered but it also comes from the heart. Talking to Kelly made me put somethings into perspective and I am going to pull the trigger on some of the things we talked about…I’m not going to tell you, I’m just going to show you…

This week we will be starting week 6 of couch to 5K. This is where things get very interesting. The intervals have went from 5 minutes to 8 minutes and now we are at 10-minute intervals. In a couple of weeks, we will be at 30-minute intervals. I am excited to get the ball rolling and I’m excited that I have my favorite lady running next to me for support. Even though we do a lot of bickering while running, I must say it would not be the same without her.

As far as the injury is concerned, I am still in pain and experiencing tightness in my neck and upper back. I think I have done 40 session of PT with no resolve. Therefore, I am thinking my next bet would probably be an orthopedic specialist. I am trying my best to stay positive about the situation, must of the time I do not bring it up to people because it’s really a conversation and mood killer. But what are you going to do about it. I try my best to keep my head up about the situation; eventually I will have a breakthrough…

Until then I will keep defying the odds… I will talk y’all in a bit.

I’m excited to announced that my other half, Mrs. 300PAR, has decided to join me in this journey. At first, I was a little skeptical but she is holding her own. Truthfully, I look forward to the days that we run together because she brings me joy and the things that come out of her mouth while running is freaking hilarious. I have a few videos of her giving her experiences of running for the first time that I need to edit. I plan to put them up by the end of the week. Furthermore, she will be contributing to 300 PAR very soon… I look forward to her adding unique perspective to the blog… For those of you who know her in real life know that she is a riot.

[divider]Memoir writing

I am writing a memoir about running my first marathon. This is something that I have doing secretly for the past couple of months and I’m ready to let the world know that it’s coming… Tentatively, I have a release date for end of July to celebrate  the 3-year anniversary of this site.  I think it will be very insightful for anyone who is struggling with weight loss. I am pouring my heart and soul into this book and I hope it will change some lives. That’s all I can say about the book but stay tuned.

[divider]World Championship Public Speaking

I am competing in the World Championship Public Speaking. It’s a competition held every year by Toastmasters International. It goes through five rounds starting at the club level and ending at the World Championship in Vegas. I have won three rounds so far and my next competition is at the district level on May 9, 2015. If I win that round, I’m headed to Vegas to compete in the semi-finals in August. May 9th is the same day of commencement. I’ve decided to forgo the graduation ceremony to chase my dream of being the 2015 World Champion of Public Speaking. It’s a huge risk and a huge reward… I’m determined to win, I have been training like a champion, and I’m ready to #DefyTheOdds

These are just some things going on in my life right now; I look forward to talking to you guys soon!

Defy the Odds,

300PAR
